Joseph D. Martorano

Joseph D. Martorano, age 90, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family in Columbia, New Jersey on March 5, 2026.

Joseph was born in East Orange, New Jersey. He lived in Union for more than 40 years before moving to Belvidere and later settling in Columbia. He took great pride in providing for his family through the work he did. After many years of hard work, he retired from Brooksite Contractors.  He spent his days enjoying time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren being involved in their lives creating memories they will carry with them forever.

Joseph was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who cherished time with his family. His kindness, sincerity and love touched everyone who knew him. Above all, most people will remember him for his wonderful sense of humor.

He was predeceased by his parents, four siblings and his beloved son, Joseph D. Martorano Jr. and his wife Debra.

Joseph is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Maria (Martino) Martorano; his loving daughters, Helena Frick, (Edward) Catherine Lorusso, (Cosmo) and Maria Longtine, (John); and his brother, Vincent Martorano; as well as 13 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 10th, from 4:00–8:00 PM at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 11th at 10:15 AM at St. Michael’s Church, 1212 Kelly Street, Union, NJ. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905 (stjude.org) would be appreciated.
