Obituary of Willie V. Washington

Willie “Vernice” Washington shed her garments of flesh in exchange for her mansion with her Savior, Jesus Christ on January 31st, 2025.  Vernice lived a God-centered life, full of love, kindness and respect for mankind.  She dearly loved God, family and friends, her church and opportunities to share the gospel while spreading the goodness of God.

Vernice was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Mabel Glen McCoy; bonus mom Virginia McCoy, four sisters Peggy Jones, Elaine “Gail” McCoy, Josephine Norman and Alice Shaw.

Vernice was passionate about fitness and maintained her youthful look throughout the years. She was beautiful inside and out. Although, family and friends will mourn her absence on earth, we are comforted knowing that she is with her Heavenly Father. Her loving memories will be cherished by two children, Steven Lamont Moore and Kimothy Moore (Glenda); five grandchildren Mia and Sophia of Pennsylvania, Paris “Tiffany” of New York, Kareem and Lakim of New Jersey; four sisters JoAnne Phillips (Curtis), Bernadine Beard, both of Jersey City, NJ, Eveline Parmalee (Marshall) and Hattie Green of Greenville, NC; three brothers Sterling McCoy (Theresa), Joe Shaw of Jersey City, NJ and Lindsey Wilks of Greenville, NC; a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, friends and church family.

Viewing will be held at The Love of Jesus Ministries 448 Highland Ave. Orange, NJ on February 13, 2025 at 10 o’clock AM.  Funeral services will begin promptly at 11 am.  Interment will follow the services at Rosedale Cemetery 408 Orange Road Montclair, NJ.
