Obituary of Edward B. Collins

Edward B. "Ned" Collins, age 71, of South Orange, NJ, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Born on January 22, 1954, in Glen Ridge, NJ, Ned attended James Caldwell High School and went on to study at the University of Iowa and Montclair State University. He worked for many years as a Sales Representative with GE Richards.

Ned was an avid reader and a passionate fan of the Grateful Dead, as well as the New York Jets, Mets, and Knicks. He will be remembered for his warmth, wit, and enduring love for his family and friends.

Ned was predeceased by his brother, Thomas F. Collins, and sisters, Jacqueline Johann and Mary McCarthy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Fiona (Andrews) Collins; his son, Matthew Collins; his sister, Ann Collins and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at St. James Episcopal Church, 581 Valley Road, Montclair, NJ on Sunday, September 7th at 1:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Ned’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905.
