Bertha K. Boma, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, entered eternal rest on August 22, 2025, at the age of 72. She was the fourth of eight children—blessed with seven sisters and one brother.
In 2010, Bertha moved to New Jersey, where she lived until her passing. She was a devout Catholic whose faith guided every step of her life. She found joy in reading, evening walks, praying the rosary, and attending mass. Despite her illness, Bertha never complained; instead, she greeted each day with a smile that uplifted her family, friends, doctors, and nurses alike.
Bertha was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul Boma; her parents, Kisinane and Fausta; and her siblings, Irene, Olivia, Anna, and Joseph. Her greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Christine and Marilyn; her cherished grandson, Melvin; her caring son-in-law, Amani; her dear siblings, Tecla, Edith, and Harriet; as well as many adored nieces and nephews.
She will forever be remembered for her unconditional love, her gentle spirit, and her unwavering ability to listen and comfort others. Bertha’s love and presence were truly irreplaceable, and she will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate to know her. Her family takes comfort in knowing that her light will continue to shine in the lives she touched.
Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Friday, September 5th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect Street, South Orange on Saturday, Sept 6th at 10:00 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in East Hanover.
