Obituary of Ivan J. Vazquez

Ivan J. Vazquez, 58, of Newark, passed away on Friday, October 17th, at University Hospital in Newark.

Born in Cape Charles, Virginia, Ivan moved to Newark as a young boy and was a proud resident of the city for over 45 years. He worked as a Foreman for Matthews General Contractor in Springfield, NJ, where he was known for his dedication, hard work, and leadership.

Ivan was predeceased by his father, Ivan Vazquez. He is survived by his loving mother, Luz Maria Vazquez; his sister, Angela Kivari and her husband Tom Johnson-Kivari; his cherished niece, Gabriella Kivari; and nephews, Tommy and Jason Kivari. He is also survived by his dear Aunt Claire O'Neill and Uncle Peter Vazquez, along with extended family and friends who will remember him fondly.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at The Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Avenue, South Orange. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, October 25th, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect Street, South Orange. Interment Rosedale Cemetery in Linden.

Ivan will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind spirit, and the love he had for his family and community.
