Obituary of Michael L Meyers
Michael L. Meyers of Plumsted, NJ, formerly of Maplewood and Elizabeth, NJ, passed away on October 21, 2025. Mike lived life passionately, finding joy in fishing, bowling, visiting casinos, and traveling.
He dedicated his working life to serving others as a cashier at Wegman’s Foods in Ocean, NJ, a role he cherished deeply. With his quick wit and humor, Mike created special connections with customers, who often preferred his line for the joy he brought to their day. He had a long career prior to Wegman’s, including work with Shamrock Technologies, Duralac Chemical, Foster D. Snell, Wakefern Foods, and The Newark Star Ledger, earning the affectionate nickname of the oldest paperboy in NJ after nearly 40 years in distribution.
A proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Elizabeth and a former student of Seton Hall University, Mike embodied dedication and hard work. He is remembered fondly for his generosity, patience, guidance, and caring nature. Family was his greatest treasure; he cherished his beloved wife, Arlene (Barrows) Meyers, and inspired his children, Michael R. Meyers (Beth), Raymond T. Meyers (April), Shannon M. Meyers, and the late Sean M. Meyers.
Mike’s legacy continues through his nine adoring grandchildren: Olivia V. Meyers, Jacob M. Meyers, Drew R. Meyers, Devyn Meyers, Brynn V. Meyers, Brooke E. Meyers, Michael X. Meyers, Brett R. Meyers, and Timothy J. Challender. He is also survived by his brother, Edward Meyers (Esther) of Wesley Chapel, FL, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Beverly M. Delaney (Edward) of Westwood and Gayle M. Scirocco (John) of Old Tappan, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.
Mike's spirit will be forever remembered and celebrated by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
