Obituary of Mary DeCelles

Mary DeCelles (née Amogretti), age 103, of Summit, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Autumn Lake Healthcare at Berkeley Heights, NJ.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, at St. Teresa’s Cemetery, 136 Passaic Avenue, Summit, NJ.

Mary DeCelles was born on August 28, 1922, in Vauxhall, New Jersey. She made her home in Summit, where she raised her family.

Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Her life was centered on caring for those she loved, and she was a constant source of strength, comfort, and kindness to everyone who knew her. She found her greatest happiness in her family, in cooking meals that brought people together, and in the quiet devotion of her faith.

A woman of deep spirituality, Mary was a longtime member of the Rosary Society at St. Teresa’s Church in Summit and held a special devotion to the Rosary Shrine at the Dominican Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary. Her faith guided her daily life and was a source of peace and inspiration to her family.

Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, John DeCelles, in 1990. She is lovingly remembered by her son, John DeCelles; her granddaughter, Laura DeCelles; and her many cherished nieces and nephews.
