Obituary of Catherine J. McCarthy

Catherine J. McCarthy, age 93, of Berkeley Heights, NJ, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at Runnells Center for Rehabilitation & Healthcare in Berkeley Heights.

The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9th at St. Joseph’s Church, 767 Prospect St., Maplewood, NJ.

Catherine was born in Newark, and spent most of her life in Union and Springfield. She was a dedicated employee of Seton Hall University in South Orange, where she worked from 1963-1995 as a secretary in the science department.

Catherine was predeceased by her beloved son, Kevin B. McCarthy. She is survived by her three loving daughters: Karen McNanna (Richard), Kelly Gibson (John) and Kim Tompson (Robert), nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
