Obituary of Josephine Maisto

Josephine Caponigro Maisto, of South Orange, passed away on February 5, 2026, at Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, NJ. The Funeral Service will take place on Friday, February 13, at 10:00 a.m., also at Preston Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Memorial Park in Union.

Josephine was born in Newark, NJ, and was a longtime resident of South Orange for over 70 years. She was a talented and dedicated hairdresser and proudly operated out of Miss Josie’s South Orange Hairdresser, where she served the community for many years.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Remo Maisto, Sr.; her sons, Remo Maisto, Jr. and Marc Maisto; her brothers-in-law, Mario Maisto and Gilbert Maisto; her sisters-in-law, Norma Manfredia and Anna Cantaldi; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
