Obituary of Michael Locker
Michael K. Locker, 71 of West Orange, NJ passed peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Michael was born on June 9, 1954 in Orange, New Jersey and grew up in South Orange, New Jersey, a town he loved deeply and always considered home. He carried his small-town roots with him everywhere — in his warmth, his humor, and the easy way he connected with people. Michael was always a creative type person. In his youth he had a passion for classic model cars and was the first kid on the block to have a customized Stingray bike that he modified himself. Being a graphic artist and fine artist was a part of his many interests. For many years, Michael worked as a Customer Service Representative at Wide Graphics, Inc. in Carlstadt, New Jersey. He took pride in his work and in the relationships he built along the way. But his heart always belonged to music and art.
A true creative spirit, Michael loved managing music artists and booking performances at local venues. He was the founder of Musiclocker, an entertainment and management booking company that reflected his passion for helping artists share their gifts with the world. Music wasn’t just something he listened to — it was something he lived.
He also had an eye for photography and a deep appreciation for art, cats, flowers, and life’s simple pleasures. Michael truly loved the little things — especially a good cup of coffee, preferably Café Bustelo. If you followed him on social media, you were likely touched by his steady stream of optimistic posts and gentle reminders to look on the bright side.
In his younger days, you could find him on the tennis courts just about any day of the week. He brought the same energy and enthusiasm to the court that he brought to everything else in life.
Michael was especially devoted to his mother, who recently passed at the remarkable age of 102. He was a loving and faithful son, caring for her with unwavering dedication through the very end of her life. That devotion was one of the clearest reflections of his kind and generous heart. Friends remember Michael as caring, funny, and incredibly talented, with a great sense of humor and a big, unforgettable smile. One of his proud “claim to fame” moments was appearing as a model for Smiling Pumpkin beer — his face appeared on bottles and beer glasses at Heartland Brewery in New York — a story he always enjoyed sharing. More than anything, Michael will be remembered for his warmth, his creativity, his optimism, and the genuine way he showed up for the people he loved. He found joy in simple moments, believed deeply in the power of music and art, and left behind memories that will continue to make us smile.
Michael is predeceased by his parents Stella and Jack Locker. Funeral services are private. In Michael’s memory, please support local artists and live music and raise a glass and send a “cheers” to Michael.
