Obituary of William B. Strandberg Jr.
William B. Strandberg Jr. (“Bill”)
Bill Strandberg was the oldest of the 4 children of Margret A. and Colonel William B. Strandberg. Born in 1942, as the son of a senior army officer he grew up on army bases throughout the US and overseas after the end of WWII.
A graduate of Cornell University, Bill earned a degree in Economics. From Cornell, he entered the navy and was stationed out of Newport during the Vietnam War. Upon leaving the navy he became a senior lending officer for Manufacturers Hanover Trust. Bill next leveraged these financial skills in becoming an editor of Standard & Poor’s Market Watch. After retirement from S&P, Bill’s main pursuits were re-exploring all the neighborhoods of his beloved NYC – always the first to share up-and-coming spots with his family – and continuing his lifelong love of reading. He also furthered his pursuits in stock market analysis, successfully investing and trading in his own accounts.
Although Bill led an extraordinary professional life, it was his great impact upon, and his love for, his family that will be remembered most. The cherished memories of his brothers Steve and Rob, their spouses Joanne and Susan and all his nieces and nephews will be endless.
