James, I always admired your determined and gracious humility, and your respect for your fellow man. It showed in everything you did. Whenever I think of you, I am reminded of that quality and how it speaks to my better self and what I strive every day to be. Thanks for being a great example. You will be missed. Jeff

Reb was a fraternity brother to John and a fellow thesbian at Wittenberg with me. We have always enjoyed following his career.
Our prayers are with his family today. So very sorry for your loss. Thank you so much for sharing him with the world. He leaves a beautiful personal and professional legacy.
Blessings and peace be with you.

James may have been the nicest man I have ever worked with. My heart aches that he is no longer with us. I only knew him for a few weeks but he forever touched my soul. I played his daughter on As The World Turns. I will never forget the kindness that just radiated from this man. He played an abusive father and was so concerned about my mental well being that he could care less about his own performance and checked in with me between every take. I remember him actually shaking because it was so difficult for him to embody such an evil character. He was a brilliant actor but an even more incredible human being. I am forever blessed to have known him. Condolences to the family. Rest in peace James.

I worked with Jim in November 1972 on a Civil War drama called Blue Boys at the Martinique Theatre on West 33rd St. When I ran into him 10 years later, he greeted me as if we had had just parted company a week earlier. Not only a terrific actor, but a really nice guy. I am sorry for his family’s loss, and I will miss him.

I could not contain my excitement when James Rebhorn appeared at my restaurant Monster Sushi Summit. I basically pulled him out of his seat to take a picture with me and he was so accommodating and a true gentleman, I will never forget. I ran to the CVS to make a print which he graciously signed for me. The photo was hanging on the wall by the time his party left. I told him I frequently saw him at the Millburn 5k race every year. I am so saddened by this news. My condolences to his wife and family. He provided so much entertainment to so many people and he acted the same in life as he did on the screen.

Rebecca, Bonnie and I thinking of you in this very painful time. Jim was a good friend to me and a wonderful artist. Working with him was a pleasure that I actively sought out. Playing George to his Lennie I will not forget. And I will not forget him. Richmond and Bonnie Hoxie

I met Jim many years ago when we were very young. We toured with a small group of actors in a children's theater production. We drove through the middle of this country in a van and a couple of cars. It was a uniquely memorable experience.
Jim opened my heart during those weeks on the road and he will always hold a special place in my heart. He was a fine actor, dedicated to his art and he was a good and kind man. He will be missed by many who loved him.
May he continue on his journey beyond the body in peace. May his beloved family be comforted by their friends and family at this time of sorrow.

I'm sorry for your loss. I didn't know Jim personally but always admired him in his roles. Jim always seemed like a guy who was a real "character". I loved him as Dr. Larry Banks in Meet The Parents and as Preston's dad in Blank Check. He will be missed.
