Obituary of Catherine Patania

Catherine Patania, 88, of New Smyrna Beach, FL, formerly of Union, NJ passed away Oct 7, 2020.  Visitation will be held  at The Jacob Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood on Tues, Oct 13th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph’s Church, 767 Prospect St., Maplewood on  Wed, Oct 14th at 10:00 AM, followed by entombment at Hollywood Memorial Park, Union.

Catherine was born in Newark and lived in Union for 87 years before moving to Florida. She had a career with J.L. Hammetts Supply Company in Union as a purchasing clerk for many years. She was a devoted wife and mother and active in her community. Her passions included the Union Women’s Club, Girl Scouts, Union Bowling League, and entertaining friends and family with her homemade food and baking. She was a devoted catholic and a leader in the Catholic Daughters, Rosary Society, Parish Council, and St. Joeseph Seniors Group.

She was predeceased by her husband James V. Patania. She is survived by her son James Patania, daughter-in-law Susan, daughters Katherine Paredes and Donna Baebi, four grandchildren, Michael Patania, Rachel Borgie, Anthony Paredes and Sofia Paredes and three great grandchildren Stella, Madeline and Ruby.
