Matthew Fitzpatrick, 85, of Pinehurst, NC, formerly of  Millburn, NJ passed away on Wednesday, December 9, 2020. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills on Monday, Dec 14th at 10:00 AM. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Born in Orange, NJ, Matthew lived in Newark for 25 years, and Millburn for 23 years before moving to Pinehurst, North Carolina in 2013. Matt received his undergraduate degree from Montclair State, Teachers College and his Masters from Seton Hall University. Mr. Fitzpatrick was a sergeant with the US Marines during the Korean War.

He was an Operating Engineer for Local #68 in West Orange for 50 years. After retirement he worked form Millburn Township as a crossing guard. Matthew was active with Newark’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee for many years.

He was predeceased by his brother Thomas Fitzpatrick. Matt  is survived by his sister Mary Washington and his niece Kristina Swartz (Brian) and nephews, Matthew and Brian Washington.
