Memories of Mike: we were childhood buddies - our families hung out together and we had many laughs along the way - Scouting was part of the fabric of our lives with our Dads as Ass't Scoutmasters, No-Be-B0-Sco camp in Blairstown, NJ; Floodwood Mt./Rollins Pond/Saranac Lake, NY; Philmont Wilderness Camp in New Mexico. We both were the first Eagle Scouts in Troop 49, Oakland, NJ - we were best buds along the way keeping each other motivated to reach our goal. We survived all the things kids did & never had many cares - we looked ahead with the world as our oyster. Mike was a rock & always have fond memories of him always being there to help me and many others who knew him. Knowing he had my back was always reassuring - I think of him often and wish I had another opportunity to talk with him about our childhood times together. My sincere expression of condolences to the family - Mrs. Angela Houghton, Claire, Katie, Tim, Herb - may you smile when the memories of Mike come to you. I am smiling now but have a tear in my eye................. Kevin Grace

To Mike, My father. Forever grateful & thankful to have been blessed with such a wonderful dad. You were always there for me, for your family. A true selfless man who would consistently ‘save the day’ in a crisis, & sacrifice himself to do for others. The world truly felt safer knowing you were there. I will never ever forget your guidance, your help, your support. An amazing father & grandfather. My condolences to the entire family. To my mom, my sons, Katie, Claire, Herb, Tim, Angela & everyone who was blessed to be a part of this great man.

Rest In Peace my brother. You will be sadly missed by many forever. I can still remember the old ‘55 Buick with 8 track tape Quadrophonic sound blasting “Ol 55” from the Eagle’s “On the Border” and waterskiing on Lake Hopatcong. Good times and great memories !!! Some memories of my dear brother Michael-so,so many memories growing up-Vacations in Maine, speed bike, Rubik’s cube, unicycle, Eagle Scout, conservationist, friend to animals, pitching the tent, Floodwood, fraternity/college days, motorcycle, LaCross, scuba diving for lobsters, Maria, Yoli, Summit house, working on cars, crazy Tony, Boyden Ave, Van Ness Terrace, annual Houghton Christmas gatherings, annual family pictures,Yoli & Phil’s wedding, grandson Nic, grandson Chris, trampoline, work, Aruba, skydiving, pool parties with Mom, heat and AC repairs, and the most amazing mind for anything mechanical-Mike could fix anything,... except our broken hearts.
