Jim was the neighbor everyone could count on for sure. May have been as simple as a charming smile or friendly chat to welcome a newcomer to the Glade. If the neighborhood needed STOP signs Jim was there or nifty bug catchers around the pool Jim was there. As a needy neighbor , I once asked Jim where I could find a flower box to hang out my second floor window. In the next few days there it was, handmade by Jim. I will never forget your kindness.
With sadness, Darlene St Peter

Many of my favorite spring and summer vacations were spent in his home in Delaware- which he generously made us all feel welcome and listened intently to the silly stories of his youngest daughters childhood friends. He was immensely proud of his daughter and I loved to watch their close relationship deepen over the years He was a font of knowledge- about pretty much any topic. I will always remember a day he and Mr Lach let me tag along on a trip to the Intrepid Museum. I will always remember the fun we had that day.

Dad was such a handsome man, even at 85 he could have passed for 60. He loved to cuddle and I can remember I could always buy an extra 20 mins by crawling onto his lap when mom said it was time for bed. I would hide behind the paper and I thought my mom could not see me. His favorite thing was to sit in his big chair with Eva and read to her.

Jim used to walk around the Glade every morning, often stopping to talk to the Glade residents. Whenever we talked, he always asked me if there was anything he could do for me. We shared an interest in guns and I was fortunate to help him before he moved on to sell all of his collected ammunition. Jeff Smith and I helped move their furniture from their Glade home on to a truck that they had rented. I can still see Jim wondering around his work bench, asking if I needed anything. He was a good friend.
