I've just heard about Craig's passing via an email to an old account. I wanted to share about how Craig helped me and how I have never forgotten him.
I went on a holiday to Argentina when I was 10 months sober in recovery. To cut a very long story short the people I was staying with turned against me and I was left by myself in Argentina with nowhere to go and some crazy people trying to attack me.
I had met Craig in some local recovery groups in Argentina and he managed to get all my belongings from this crazy household, find me somewhere to stay and hung out with me the rest of the holiday even going to visit Uryguay.
I was in danger of drinking again when this happened as I was only 10 months sober at the time. Because of Craig and my God working through him I did not drink and I am now coming up to 13 years recovery.
I mention Craig often when I share my story and how the hands of recovery looked after me even on the other side of the world.
I am sorry for your loss and the world has lost a real gent.
Sending love from the UK and Ireland,
Emma xx

Cousin Craig. -- that’s what he always called himself to me and my siblings. Our fathers were brothers, and both our families were raised in the same town, and were close. I watched Craig grow up. He had a dazzling smile, intense charm, and a ready laugh. He was a wonderful storyteller, and sooo good looking. My siblings and I will miss growing old with him.
Sister-cousins Sherry and Cindy, we know how devastating it is to lose a sibling, especially one who was in pain and for whom you advocated, and tried everything to save. One’s entire world order is disrupted. Chrissy passed away last year at this time. Craig, who was closest to Chrissy in their earliest years, was shattered by her death. He visited her in hospice the day before she passed. I hope we can all take comfort that the “kissing cousins” are together again, beyond their pain and in a better place.
With all of our love,
Deborah, Kathy, Terry, David, and Andy Collins

I’m sorry for your loss. Craig was an extraordinary company for the kids, a good friend to the new students and to us the instructors an excellent partner, and a guide. I had the chance to work with him, all I have left is great memories. He was the only one to hold a good long conversation with my husband the only time he visited the church, and that is something remarkable.
May the Lord keep him is His glory forever, and give all of us who miss him, comfort.

I knew Craig from many many years ago. We went to Jr. High together but I moved away getting together with him only once after. I have always had a very special place in my heart for Craig. He was just such a good guy even back in those days of early craziness. I am heart broken to learn of his struggle with addiction. He will always have that very special place in my heart. Rest in peace with our Lord, Craig.

I was so sorry to hear about Craig "the Governor" who left some great memories. One that stands out is that he would always have a great story to tell when there was quiet amongst the the crowd. You will be missed.

I knew all of the Collins family from my employment during High School and College at the Beacon Hill Club in Summit and without exception they were always nice to me. Over the years when I commuted by train to Manhattan I would run into Craig on the Erie Lackawanna/NJ Transit train and he always remembered me and we would have a nice conversation. I am very sorry for the family that he was taken early. I know well the pain and heartache that addiction causes the family. May he Rest In Peace. Geoff Cronin

My heartfelt sympathy to Sherry and Cindy and families. Craig brought his brilliant smile and ESL expertise to St. Anthony's and taught with me. The students and other teachers and I all loved him. We were sad when he left but heard that he returned and were looking forward to seeing him again. He was a bright light for us all. We will miss him. I added a photo of Craig with two of our students.

Craig, you were my brother from a different mother. We were each other's guiding light in so many ways. Never judgmental, always observant. I am so grateful for all the time we lived together, for those are cherished memories. I love you brother!

I met Craig in 1984 while working on the NYMEX trading floor. We could not have been more different, he the preppy from the suburbs, and me from Jersey City. Somehow we hit it off. We worked together for the same company for a few years and became good friends. Always had a smile on his face. Rest In Peace Craig.

Craig was always a great friend. We became better friends at BC and he sold me his Oldsmobile Cutlass that turned into the first of many road trips. From working on the NYMEX to Summit and mutual friends and experiences, we always had a good time. I'll miss you my Friend......

Craig. My heart is broken. As is my soul. We fought constantly about the NY Giants. You revered them, while I wasn’t a fan because my birthday fell on one of their Super Bowl games. And instead of cakes and presents, I got booze and nachos.... which, now that I look back on that, that sounds loads better than cake and presents. We had many impassioned discussions of music and family history. The times I talked with you on the phone when you couldn’t get hold of your AA sponsor. I’m not in the program, but he knew I wanted to support his recovery any way I could. And don’t get me started on your love for women.... SO MANY! You were always such a charmer! My world just got a helluva lot colder now that you’re no longer here. I take comfort in knowing you’re with the family you’ve missed like crazy. And surrounded by dogs and pretty women vying for your attention. Please be happy. I love you, Craig. Til we see each other again. You’re always in my heart.

It was easy to become friends with Craig. He made it so. I will always remember his great smile and friendly hello. Getting to know Craig in the past several years, he shared with me his love of his family and his friends. We will miss him dearly.
