Obituary of Douglas J. Harper

Douglas J. Harper, 80, of South Orange passed away at Overlook Hospital on February 24, 2021.

Douglas was born in Plainfield, NJ and lived in South Orange for 54 years. He received his B.A. from Ursinus College, PA, and his J.D. from Rutgers Law School, Newark. Douglas served the New Jersey State Attorney General’s Office in Newark as Senior Deputy Attorney General. He served in numerous divisions for over 40 years before retiring in 2010. Douglas was also the Lay Community Leader for the Good Shepherd Community at Seton Hall University and more recently was a member of Our Lady of Sorrows parish. He was an avid golfer and amateur photographer

Douglas and his beloved wife Patricia were together for 63 years. He is survived by Patricia, his three children, Lisa Harper, Meredith Harper Allon, Keith Harper, and his grandchildren, Catherine, Elizabeth, Ella, Finley, Shane, Cole, and Taylor. His first great granddaughter is expected in March.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, NJ at 10am on Monday, March 1st.
