Earlier this morning, I heard of the passing of Maria (Maria Jo as I knew her from our childhood). Maria and I were our first girlfriends growing up in the same house on Liberty Lane in Lodi and enjoyed beginning years at Wilson School. Our Mothers were best friends and also grew up together from childhood. Many wonderful times were spent in those early years in Lodi and then our paths separated when we attended different schools and moved to different neighborhoods. I am sharing three photos from those early years ... Reading to each other at play time ... Maria and I at a birthday party with her cousins, we are both standing on the right side ... and a Christmas pageant at Wilson School, 1st grade, as rag dolls.
Years separated our connection but my heart will always remember my first girlfriend, her beautiful parents and her sister "Cookie". My condolences to her husband and children and her loving cousins.
Rest in eternal peace dear Maria.

Uncle Augie, Cousins David and Maria (and families),
I am so saddened to learn of Aunt Maria’s passing. She had the greatest laugh and always a smile on her face. She is reunited with some really special people who have gone before her, and I’d like to think they are together, telling funny stories, with Aunt Maria sharing that special laugh.
With sincere condolences,
Jennifer Lieberman (Zenda)

I am so sadden to hear this news. I was lucky enough to meet Mrs. Franzoni and family when I was nine and have fond childhood memories with Maria and David. I can't even count the number of times I have been over the house, roaming all over the neighborhood. She may have been my neighbor, but she treated me as family. I will always remember her bright beautiful smile, laughter and wonderful memories we shared. To the entire family, I am so deeply sorry for your loss.

I am heartbroken over the loss of my godmother, Aunt Maria. I will forever cherish my memories of visiting with Aunt Maria and Uncle Augie, and Maria and David and their families. My brother Philip and I always looked forward to our trips to New Jersey, and loved spending time with Aunt Maria. She was always well prepared with delicious meals and snacks for us, arts and craft supplies, and she never hesitated to haul Maria and David’s old toys up from the basement to entertain us. She also gave the best hugs and kisses!
Aunt Maria was an amazing storyteller, and some of my fondest memories include listening to she and my mother as they recounted stories from their childhood, especially those of their sisterly squabbles, as well as those of Papa Rocky’s antics and Nana Josie’s reactions to said antics!
Aunt Maria was a friend to all who met her. She was warm and inviting to everyone, and had such a kind, generous, and giving nature. She always felt like home to me, and a natural extension of my own mother. Her spirit shone brighter than most, and I will miss her and carry her in my heart always.
All my love,
Kate

Now, we shed our tears for you, Uncle Augie, cousins David and Maria and their families. But we know in our hearts you have journeyed on to a brighter and better place. I taught with Maria at CPC for 21 years, she the 3’s and me the 4’s. She always shared her Mother’s Day MOM sponge stamp with me for our classmade cards which always used the stamp right-side up and upside-down to say MOM you are WOW.
Maria was just that WOW! Her smile, laugh, cooking/baking talents, devotion to teaching and dedication to her family. May that wow factor warm your hearts as you grieve the loss of this uniquely glorious woman, wife, mom, grandma, teacher, and friend. Rest in God’s peace and glory, Maria.
Loving and missing her, Sally Hillenbrand
