Obituary of William J. Peter

William (Bill) J.  Peter, 90 of Union, formerly of South Orange, passed away November 25, 2021.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange on Wednesday, Dec 1^st  at 10:00 AM. Interment Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover.  Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Tuesday, Nov. 30th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Bill was raised and lived most of his life in South Orange before moving to Union

15 years ago. Bill worked for 38 years at Chemical Bank in New York City where he started in the mail room and worked his way up to Senior Loan Review Officer.  He graduated from NYU in 1961 with a degree in Banking and Finance. He was a member of Union Knights of Columbus council # 4504,  as well as a Past Grand Knight of South Orange Knights of Columbus council # 1831 and active member of the South Orange Elks.

He is predeceased by his wife Cecilia, son Brian Peter and daughter Carolyn Boring and brother Richard F. Peter Jr. Bill is survived by his sons  Michael W. Peter ( Joyce) and Timothy  Peter (Tammy), brother Joseph Peter and sister Jane  Campbell as well as 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.       .
