Margaret (Rita) J. Tracy (nee Ryan) of Spring Valley, NY passed away at Pine Valley Nursing Home & Rehabilitation in Spring Valley, NY on Thursday, February 24, 2022.

 

Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Tuesday, March 1st   from 9:00-10:00 AM. The Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect Street, South Orange on Tuesday at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.  In lieu of flowers donations to Our Lady of Sorrows Church would be appreciated.

 

Rita was born in Elizabeth, NJ and had lived in South Orange for 45 years before moving to Denville, NJ.  She has spent the last year in Spring Valley, NY. Rita started working at Ballantine Brewery from 1950- 1958 in Newark, NJ. She then worked as a Secretary for the Teamsters Joint Council # 73 in Springfield from 1958-78. After that she worked for Our Lady of Sorrow’s Church in the rectory in South Orange from 1984 to the early 2000’s. During her spare time, she was a Member of the OLS Rosary Society, a Member of the Seton Hall Bailey Society, was active in the Seton Hall Choral Group, and even learned sign language. Rita also loved to travel, and went to many different places. With her trips, she went to see meet the Pope, and traveled to Jerusalem to visit the Highlights.

 

She was predeceased by her husband, Woodrow F. Tracy and is survived by many nieces, and nephews.
