I had the pleasure of working along side Marlyn for 3 yrs at the Ozone park , Home Depot. She was a great asset to the team. She made work FUN! Marlyn was dedicated and had a passion for all the great things she did at the store. She taught me a lot with decorating , organizing , planning and being creative with the smallest and simplest things! We enjoyed going out shopping and her ideas were always on point! When I moved to Florida last year, we video chatted and she gave me ideas on how to decorate my new home.I told her just come down here and get it going :). I was looking forward to that day she would tell me “I got my ticket, I’m on my way to you :( . Marlyn was such an intelligent , skilled , creative , caring , loving , great sense of humor and talented lady. Always had something to learn from her especially when talking about all the countries and islands she visited. I will always remember that look she gave me when I didn’t get something right or not in her “ liking” :). I have so much more I could say...... with a heavy and aching heart .... Marlyn I will MISS you dearly! To the family , I heard so many great things about you especially MOM, sisters , nephew and her “son” in Mexico. .. I’m wishing you all the comfort and Love during this time.

My Tribute to a friend I will always cherish in my heart- Marlyn Persaud
By Reverend Dr. Eugene Edwards -the United Kingdom/St. Croix USVI
Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can stead, Friendship that cannot be replaced. I cannot tell you how sad I was to learn of Marlyn’s passing. Sending my sympathy and thoughts to your family as well as remembering Marlyn’s life and all the great times we have shared.
It is an honor to write this tribute to Marlyn Persaud—a friend. I have known her for the past 38 years and she has played a great part in my life. I remember the first time I met her at CNC (formerly known as CNTC) when she visited the college. She was a quiet but stern person.
When I went to Guyana in 1983 and stayed at her family home, she made sure that my stay was one of the greatest ever spent anywhere I have traveled. She took me all around to see every place that I needed to see. I met every member of her family and to this day felt like a member of her family. It was a privilege for me to have been a part of Marlyn’s life. Although much too short, her, was a life well lived! She was a determined, visionary, collaborative, goal-oriented, caring person who loved life, and all that is offered.
She loves her family and is always ready to sacrifice whatsoever for each one of them. When it comes to her friends, she selected them carefully and when you truly become her fiend she will go all out for that friend. The last time I saw Marlyn was in 2017, when I visited the USA from London and came to It was a privilege for me to have been a part of Marlyn’s life. Although much too short, her, was a life well lived! Maryn knew what she wanted out of life and live it God’s way. She left the greatest legacy for all of us to follow. Love and serve God and family and her fellowmen.

I was shocked when I returned to the Virgin Islands on Monday night and saw on my Facebook page her passing. I felt numb as tears flowed from my eyes knowing a friend so dear, I will never get to see or ask why there was no response to my call and messages.
The life given to us by nature is short, but the memory of a life spent is eternal. To the members of her family, her mom, sisters, brother, nieces, great-nieces, great-nephews, and in-laws. On behalf of my family, I extend my deepest sympathy to each one of you. May her soul sleep in peace. Your memory will forever live on in my mind and heart. Gone but will not be forgotten. SIP MY Friend, Heaven’s gain is earth lost.

On behalf of the Solid Rock Church of the Nazarene,
Sis Marlyn was our Nazarene Missions International president and a cherished church member. Sis Marlyn was a true woman of Christ, serving in many capacities in both the local and global church over the years. She was a member of Solid Rock since its inception with founder Rev. Rudy Morgan. She traveled as a missionary to different countries, her assignments ranging from months to years. She placed an emphasis on youth ministry and was known for putting others before herself.
We lost a saint but heaven gained one more. My condolences to her family in this time.

When we heard that our dear friend and colleague Marlyn passed, we were shocked and saddened. Death has taken away a genuinely warm and creative person. While we mourn the loss of a beautiful soul, we pay tribute and celebrate a life that was well lived, a life committed to the love of God. Not many leave behind a legacy of such dedication and accomplishment. Those who knew her knew that she was an affable, cooperative, helpful and a dedicated associate. Her determination to carry on despite trying personal circumstances, demonstrated her commitment to her duties and responsibilities. Life can be fleeting. But a life lived to the fullest stays fond in all our memories. Marlyn, through her decorum and grace, endeared herself to many. This is a particularly difficult and painful time for her immediate family and her Home Depot family. In extending to them our heartfelt condolences, we wish them courage and strength to bear this irreparable loss. We love you Marlyn and you will always be in our hearts. We pray that you Rest In Peace.
