Obituary of Joseph J. Martin

Joseph J. Martin, 80 of Madison passed away on December 27, 2022 at his home.

Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, NJ on Monday, January 2nd from 5-8PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills on Tuesday, January 3rd at 11:15 AM. Interment is private. 

Joseph was born in Summit and spent most of his life in Millburn. He spent his last five years living in Madison. He graduated from Millburn High School in 1961 before serving in the Navy during the Vietnam War. When Joseph returned home he became a Firefighter for The Millburn Fire Department. He retired as a Captain for the department.  Joseph was an active member of the Essex County Emerald Society, the American Legion Guy Bosworth Post 140, the Knights of Columbus, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans (DAV) commander club.

Joseph is survived by his loving sister Mary K. Anderson, his niece Jennifer Anderson and her husband Russell Hanneken with their two children Georgia and Sadie. Joseph is predeceased by his brother James A Martin Jr and nephew Gary Anderson.
