Dr. Gerard DeVastey

1950-2023

When a loved-one passes away, families gather to write an obituary to commemorate the important events in their loved ones life. However, Gerard was a private person.  Therefore to honor his wishes, we will not capture the events of his life in a traditional manner but in the form of testimonials from individuals that knew and loved him.  

Medicine and research were his life, but he was not detached from reality. His love for science allowed him to touch the lives of people. He worked with a full understanding that no two people were created the same, therefore he understood that some diseases required person-specific protocols. 

Gerard valued people and took the time to talk to them and to listen; he wrote his obituary through his relationships with those whose lives he touched. We invite you to share the memorable moments he shared with you as well as donate to the organization that he cherished, Haiti Edu-Action. The purpose of this organization is to create thriving communities through educational and cultural development activities.
