Obituary of Juan A. Ortiz

Juan A. Ortiz, 89, of Maplewood, New Jersey, entered God’s Kingdom surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, June 11, 2023.

We invite those who knew Juan to attend his celebration of life along with his family. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood, New Jersey on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, from 4-8 PM. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph's Church, 767 Prospect St, Maplewood on Thursday, June 15, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Fair View Cemetery, 456 NJ-35, Middletown, New Jersey.

Juan was born in Corozal, Puerto Rico, and has lived in New Jersey for the past 70 years. He attended Rutgers University School of Business and worked as self-employed tax accountant. He was passionate about his work and gave back to the community he served. He was also known for his vibrant personality and sense of humor, especially his hearty laugh. Juan held many titles in his life from tax accountant to entrepreneur, but his favorite role was being a family man. He loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, adult children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Juan was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Regina Pacis #4066.

Juan is survived by wife Antonia Ortiz; daughters Maria Waltner, Carmen Ortiz, Edwina Van Duyne, and sons, John Ortiz, and David Ortiz; brother Ernesto Ortiz; ten grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, and 12 of his siblings.
