Obituary of Margaret Otto
Margaret “Marge” Otto, 92, of South Orange, NJ, passed away on October 24, 2023.
Marge was born in Jersey City. After attending secretarial school, she worked for Robert Rooke at Merrill Lynch, who was responsible for making the company the #1 brokerage firm in the country.
Marge had two children, Laurie and Michael, with her first husband Michael McGrath. Her second husband, William Otto, was a priest in his early life and later became the Assistant Warden at Yardville Prison. William moved on to become Superintendent at Northern State Prison. Marge and William moved into their house in South Orange in 1973, and remained there for the rest of their lives.
Marge enjoyed spending summers at the family shore house in Belmar, NJ. She was an active member of the Maplewood Country Club, and was very involved with the South Orange Seniors.
Marge was predeceased by her husband William Otto in 1997, and her daughter Laurie Loeser in 2021. She is survived by her son, Michael McGrath, her grandsons Justin Loeser (Elizabeth) and Timothy Loeser (Jill), and her great-grandchildren Magdalena Loeser and Jack Loeser. She will be missed by many dear friends, especially Elsy, whose loving care was greatly appreciated.
Visiting Sunday 2:00-5:00 PM at Preston Funeral Home, South Orange. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Sorrows, South Orange. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
