Obituary of McKenzie T. Miller

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news on January 16, 2024 McKenzie “Mack” T. Miller (28) passed away.  McKenzie was born on August 20, 1995 to Keith Miller and Tahni Thielke in Summit, New Jersey.

McKenzie was raised in Maplewood (66 for life).  As a young teenager he could often be found zipping down the streets on his skateboard or cuddling dogs that he loved so much.  After graduating Columbia High, his early 20s took him on an adventure out West where he embraced the freedom of Oregon’s rivers and outdoors.  But two years ago, he returned home to work alongside his father as a landscaper for Miller’s Landscaping, reconnecting with his roots.

Though gone too soon, McKenzie will be remembered for his infectious humor, captivating storytelling and enormous heart.  He delighted in little things like sweets, but found his great joy in helping others, giving his last dollar or the coat off his back to someone in need.  His compassion knew no bounds, embracing people and animals alike.  Maplewood has lost a treasured son and friend, but McKenzie’s bright spirit carries on in all the lives he touched.

He is survived by his father Keith Miller and girlfriend Kacey Kowalchuk, mother Tahni Thielke and sister Madison Miller.  He is also survived by his grandparents Duanne and Bonnie Thielke, aunts Audrey Wirth and husband Kenny Wirth, Corinne Miller, Kimberly Trotta and husband Gerard Trotta, uncle Jeff Thielke and wife Michelle Thielke.  As well as many beloved cousins and friends.  He was predeceased by his grandparents Richard and Mary Miller.

The family will be receiving friends to celebrate McKenzie’s life at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Sunday, February 18th from 2:00-4:00pm.
