Obituary of Purnell "Pete" E. Rowe

Purnell " Pete" E. Rowe, 91, of Manahawkin, N.J., formerly of Maplewood, N.J., died at home on Oct. 26, 2017. A funeral service will be held at Prospect Presbyterian Church, 646 Prospect St., Maplewood, on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 10:30 a.m. Interment is in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union, N.J. Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Tuesday from 4 to 8 p.m. Mr. Rowe was born at home in Maplewood and then lived in Whippany, N.J., for many years before moving back to Maplewood in 1966; he lived there until moving to Manahawkin in 1990. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War with Army Air Corps and then the Air Force. After World War II, he was in the Department of Commerce- Civil Aeronautics-radio operator, Gustavus, Alaska. Pete was an engineer with Bell Labs, Whippany, from 1955 to 1990. He was the husband of the late Norma Hayrup Rowe; father of Cynthia Rowe and Glenn Rowe; grandfather of Matthew and Kevin Fedison, Scott and William Rowe, and brother of Nancy O'Neil. In lieu of flowers, donations to Stafford Branch Library, 129 N. Main Street, Manahawkin, N.J. 08050 would be appreciated.
