Obituary of Viola B. Torre

Viola "Chickee” Torre, former long-time resident of West Haven, passed away suddenly in Maplewood, NJ, on February 25, 2024. Born in New Haven on July 4, 1947, she was the daughter of Michael and Josephine (Pecoraro) D’Agostino. Vi was a 1965 graduate of Wilbur Cross High School. Throughout her career, she managed many offices from SNET and trucking companies to a collection agency and chiropractic office.

Viola was the family's entertainment hub, keeping everyone up to speed on the Bachelor franchise and DWTS, discovering new TV gems, and engaging in spirited family UNO matches. A devoted mother and doting Nana, her culinary creations were second to none, leaving an irreplaceable void in the family kitchen. The world will know no finer sauce, home cooking, or holiday baking. She is survived by daughter Leslie, son-in-law David, and her adored grandkids, Wyatt and Adeline. Vi was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Robert “Butch” Torre.
