I am deeply saddened to hear that my friend RL passed away. I’ve been trying to reach her by phone and email, but without a response. Normally she would pick up the phone right away or email back immediately. That’s the kind of friend she was. I met RL at Teachers College many years ago, and we’ve kept in touch ever since. RL loves many things - visiting museums, watching movies, reading books, trying different recipes, going to cafes, sightseeing…We even ran the NY Mini 10 K Women’s race together. She was a wonderful friend, a great listener, open minded, and thoughtful. I shall miss her. I will always cherish her memories. We send our heartfelt condolences to her family.

I worked with RL for many years at Teachers College and when we both retired spoke once a week on the phone, along with occasional trips to the city for lunch, museums and the theater. She enjoyed cooking, watching movies and television and most especially her cats. I shall miss her.

I met RL through a mutual friend many years ago, and our own friendship developed. She would come into Manhattan and we would do tourist-like things. For example, after the play Hamilton opened, we visited his home in upper Manhattan. One of our favorite things to do was to try the different venues that served traditional English afternoon tea. A favorite of ours was the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I can’t put into words how much I will miss her kindness, generosity, support and company.

It's hard to believe R.L. hit 70 years old -- she was so young at heart. And loyal. Once she decided you were a friend, she wanted you in her life forever. I knew her for almost 50 years and it wasn't enough. The world is dimmer without her.

When we first moved to Maplewood from Brooklyn, RL was our neighbor for 9 years. She was a great neighbor and had a dry sense of humor. We enjoyed living next to her.

Such a nice, gentle person. I’m a close neighbor who interacted with her several times over the years during storms, power outages, and even one party she attended. She will be missed. I hope her cats were rescued by the town. Would have been happy to help if they’d asked.
