Relatives and friends of Dorneia O. Jones are asked to gather for a memorial ceremony at Preston Funeral Home at 153 South Orange Avenue, South Orange, New Jersey on Saturday March 23d from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Interment will be private.

On March 15, 2024, Dorneia O. Jones passed away peacefully at her home in Irvington, New Jersey.  Dorneia was the beloved daughter of Morris Barclay and Rene Talbot, the devoted mother of Godlyn C. and Brandon O. Pickering, the former companion of her children’s father Godfrey Pickering and new grandmother Brandon Orlando Pickering II. She is further survived by her siblings Lorraine Jones-Austin, Cecilia Bollers-Greene, Andre Jones, Sharon Jones, Herman Jones, Isha Harte of Guyana and Loretta Bacchus of Trinidad; Sister-in-law: Sarah Jones, Brother -in -law Orin Greene and John Harte of Guyana.

Dorneia was born in Georgetown-Guyana in 1968. She had a quiet demeanor but was always a pleasure to be around. Dorneia was an exceptional individual with outstanding abilities. Her caring heart saturated her surroundings and impacted the lives of all who knew her.  Her gifted hands created beautiful art and her culinary skills were second to none. She loved music and anything to do with beauty. Dorneia saw beauty in all things.  Dorneia graduated from the Burrows School of Art in Guyana; there she excelled at Sculpting, Calligraphy and Graphic Design.  She also graduated from Singers Sewing School in Guyana. Dorneia moved to the United States in 2010 where she worked as a Home Health Aide for Griswold Home Care in South Orange, NJ until the time of her passing.

There was no questioning Dorneia’s love for her family, they were her universe. She was genuinely a special woman who had an uncanny ability to find happiness in the darkest of days. Her memories will be cherished, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the honor and pleasure to know her. This angel on earth is now reunited and resting peacefully with her lord and savior in heaven.
