Obituary of Ibrahim "Brian" Tellado

Ibrahim "Brian" Tellado, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of 97. Born in Havana, Cuba, on August 4, 1926, to Candida Fernandez and Valentin Tellado, Ibrahim embarked on a remarkable journey that led him to the United States in 1961, seeking refuge after the Cuban Revolution. Accompanied by his loving wife Marta and their four cherished children - Tony, George, Val, and Marta - he settled first in Newark, NJ, before making Maplewood, NJ, their home.

In retirement, Ibrahim enjoyed two decades of bliss in Miami, surrounded by dear friends and family where he and Marta were active in the church, family, and civic life. In 2011, he and Marta returned to New York to be closer to their family. Ibrahim's legacy lives on through Marta, his children, and his adored grandchildren - Erica, Grace, Kristin, Marc, and Raina. He will be remembered for his passion for democracy, curiosity about ideas, resilience, and the love he shared with all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle 2122 Millburn Ave, Maplewood on Friday, April 12^th from 6-8pm and Sat, April 13^th from 10:00 – 11:00 AM followed by a service at Holy Cross Cemetery in N. Arlington at 11:30 AM.
