Obituary of Anne DeFazio
Anne was the devoted and beloved mother to Joseph, Anthony and Lisa, and beloved grandmother to Haileyrose, Alice and AJ - the true loves of her life. Anne is also survived by her daughters-in-law Meredith and Claire, and her future son-in-law Michael. Anne was also the beloved baby sister of Tommy and Mary who adored her, and whom she adored and loved in return. Anne was also lucky to share a close and loving relationship to her brother-in-law, Chich and sister-in-law, Mary DeFazio. She was known affectionately as Aunt Annie to her many wonderful nephews and nieces, as well as her many grand-nephews and nieces.
Anne and her family moved to Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, where she met her life-long friends Rosemarie and Marianne, in elementary school. She was the apple of her father Charles' eye, and a devoted and loving daughter to her mother, Betty. Anne loved every genre of music, from jazz and big band, to doo-wop, opera and country, and was a talented contralto who loved to sing and entertain her family and friends. She was also a naturally gifted dancer, and especially loved cha-cha and the merengue. Anne was also a gifted poet and writer, and had a life-long interest in and talent for interior design, having studied for two years after high school.
While raising her children on Staten Island, Anne worked as an independent salesperson for Avon, Tupperware and Mary Kay Cosmetics, and volunteered as secretary for two local PTAs as well as for the re-election campaign for New York Assemblyman Guy Molinari. She later started her own chocolate making business selling custom candy for baby and wedding showers and other special occasions. From 1985 to 1991, Anne worked as an administrative assistant for AIG insurance.
Anne will be remembered for her generous heart, her curious nature, her sharp mind, her great sense of humor and her skillful use of emoji’s when texting.
Family and close friends are invited to join in a celebration of her life on Saturday May 4, 2024, at noon, at Lisa and Mike's house: 22 Crestwood Drive, Maplewood NJ 07040.
