Tony was born in Newark, and has lived in South Orange for 74 years.  He served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. He was a Police Officer for the South Orange Police Dept. from 1969-1997 retiring as a Sergeant. He served as president of PBA local # 12 for 8 years and was Essex County fire arms instructor for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife: Judith (Edson) Griffin, children: Carolyn McGuire (John), Tony Griffin and Regina Stulack (Bill) six grandchildren Steven (Cori), Shannon, Griffin, Peter, Kylie and Kyle and two great-grandchildren Miles and Liam. He is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews. Tony was predeceased by his brother Bart Griffin (wife Fran), sister Mary Louise DuBeau (husband James DuBeau -living), and brother Martin Griffin.

Tony’s focus was on family. Loved to tell old and new stories to his Grandchildren and teach them everything he knew about fixing things and life in general.

He was a cherished friend, coworker, and neighbor by all that met him. Willing to help with anything or to sit and chat over a cup of coffee.

Tony was certainly one in a million and will be remembered by all.
