Obituary of Christine M. Buerle

The world lost a brave and beautiful soul on Sunday, June 30, 2024. Christine Buerle passed away peacefully with her cherished family by her side after a most courageous battle with cancer for over two decades, which never seemed to phase her or hold her back.  She will be incredibly missed and lovingly remembered.

Visitation will be held at The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Avenue, Maplewood, NJ on Tuesday, July 9th from 3:00 – 8:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Peace Church, 111 South Street, New Providence, on Wednesday, July 10th at 10:00 AM. Interment is private.

Christine is survived by her husband: Eugene Buerle III, children Madeline and Christopher Buerle, siblings Colin Weir (Debra), Steven Weir (Marty) and Caryn Weir. She was predeceased by her Father and Mother Colin and Ruth Weir and her sister, Cynthia Pettersson.

With a background in fashion, Christine was known for her impeccable style and taste.  She studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York and earned her degree from Montclair State University. She traveled globally for her career in the business for Polo Ralph Lauren and PVH. To say that she dressed and lived her life with flare is an understatement. Beautiful inside and out, Christine’s huge smile, sparkling eyes, hearty laugh, and quick wit will be sorely missed.

As one of the most organized and thoughtful individuals on the planet, she loved searching for and giving the perfect gifts to family and friends as well as hosting wonderful feasts for them with Eugene at their family home in New Providence which she painstakingly renovated and decorated beautifully.  A true-blue Jersey Girl, throughout her life she summered at her beloved Jersey Shore in Seaside Park where she met her soulmate Eugene. It is where they began their love affair with each other and made beautiful memories with extended family and friends, enjoying countless hours sitting on their beach chairs, soaking in the sun, swimming in the surf and enjoying the day’s end with a cocktail or two.

A friend to all, her greatest joy was raising her beloved children, Madeline and Christopher. She delighted in being a part of their activities from childhood through their college years and beyond, ensuring that they were always well dressed and looking their finest.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made in Christine’s to Cancer Institute of New Jersey Breast Cancer Research Gift Fund at  https://give.rutgersfoundation.org/cinj-breast-cancer-research/14904.html
