I am so sorry for your loss. This was such a difficult message for me to share - I'm sorry it took so long. I will never forget the day Christina introduced me to her mom. I was so amazed at the vibrant stories and her contagious energy that all i wanted to do was just listen to her stories. I'm pretty sure she didn't quite know what to think of a small-town-Tennessee guy continuously prompting her to tell me more about whatever story she had decided to share. During our sporadic conversations over the last twenty years there was, of course, usually a generous helping of some decadent dessert, typically something she had created. I will truly cherish memories of those incredible cakes and treats each time I remember this beautiful soul. These photos are from a very special afternoon that always makes me smile. I had thought these photos lost due to a computer malfunction but happened on them accidentally (which is not really a thing) and thought it may make the family laugh at the memories from this day, so typical for them, I imagine. Blessings to all. We'll meet again, Mrs. Blythe, and I know there will be coffee and cake and your beautiful smile when we do.
Photo #1: her always gorgeous Christmas tree.
Photo #2 :telling a hilarious, and usually embarrassing for one of her children, story.
Photo #3: putting the final touch on her tree, never one to leave the more difficult tasks to someone else. (A lovely character trait i know her children definitely inherited.)

In liebevoller Verbundenheit
Ingo und Claudia

Thank you Christina for sharing the gift of your awesome "Mami." I fell in love with your mom, Mrs. Blythe, at the lunch table during our high school years.
Christina introduced me to her "Mami" through Mrs. Blythe's delicious baked sweets which I have never forgotten. Clearly, Mrs. Blythe added her love, warmth and kindness! When I met Mrs. Blythe in person, she was sooo loving and welcoming (just like those sweets), and it was clearly a blessing to be in her presence!
My prayers, and my family's prayers, are with you all
Love,
Melbra (Giles) King

Last summer I turned 60 and my husband surprised me with a very special gift: a trip to New York. When I told Ilse about it on the phone, she was delighted. It was always important to her to keep in touch with her family in Germany and it gave her great pleasure that the younger generation in the USA and in Germany were in contact with each other.
So I had the great good fortune to be able to visit Ilse in Maplewood in April 2024. This meeting, like every phone call we had with each other, was also impressive. Ilse's alert mind, her friendliness, her curiosity about our lives and her kindness were like a refreshing shower for us. - A very old person can be so lively!
I remember that she asked my husband to tell her about himself while I was visiting the house with Andrea. When we came back, she said: “That was nice to be able to talk to your husband alone!" . She enjoyed meetings and conversations and was able to listen. - Now that I am married and have children myself, I can appreciate how brave Ilse was. Widowed very early she took her life into her own hands and she remained always confident. In my last phone call with her, I arranged to meet her for her 90th birthday. She laughed and said: “Let's see what the good Lord has planned for me...” - Today I bow to an extraordinary person. I am so grateful that I was able to know her. I'm sure she's in a good place now.

May I introduce myself briefly, my name is Georg Ackermann.
I am the son of Erika Ackermann, née Svozil. My grandmother, Ella Svozil, was Ilse's cousin.
Together with my sister, Iris, I live in Germany.
In December 2018 I had the pleasure of visiting Ilse and the family in New York again. Together with my life partner, Ramona, we had the oportunity to invite Ilse to dinner. This evening was so pleasant, harmonious and peaceful, it was simply a pleasure to listen to Ilse. She was so at peace with her life and so wonderfully proud of her children, enviable. I have rarely experienced any other older person who radiated as much warmth and love as Ilse. She was interested in everything and loved to listen other people. I will always remember Ilse fondly. May she rest in peace.

Meine liebe Ilse-Klein,

We will never forget the great time with Ilse during our honeymoon in the US. Ilse was so kind to let us stay a couple of days at her place. We enjoyed the Tours in new York but more than that the welcoming Atmosphere she was giving us all the time. She made us Quiche late at night, showed us in NY and NJ, walked miles with us through the City.
We will always look back to those days with Ilse, Smiles on our faces and love in our hearts. Such a wounderful Lady with a big heart. Ilse you will be missed

When Peter, our son Zack and I moved into the home next to Ilsa and her beautiful family, we made the most amazing friendship with the Blythe family. When I couldn’t find our son within our home, Zack would be in Ilsa’s backyard having sun iced tea with Ilsa having a wonderful conversation. Ilsa became Zack’s surrogate “Nana”. The entire family couldn’t have been more welcoming to our small family. We will miss Ila’s presence in our lives; May her memory be a blessing to all that knew her.

Liebe Blythe-Familie,
Liebe Ilse,
ruhe in Frieden

"In memory of Ilse" They say it gets easier as time passes by. But on those long days I wish I could fly. Over the heartaches the sorrows the pain; just for a brief moment to see you again. I'd tell you, "I miss you", then I'd hug you real tight and then I would thank God for you being in my life. Even though you are gone, I know you're in the best place, I know you're with Jesus because you kept the faith. From my family to yours, may God continue to bless you and your family. We ❤️ you.

Ilse was an expert pastry chef and we loved her Christmas cookies! She baked this torte for Janine's birthday a few years ago. We're going to miss her so much! She took care of our children when they were small and became family to us. A fun lady who made everything more fun!

Aunt Ilse will always be one of my most positive, generous, fascinating, engaging, and jubilant relatives. As a child Ilse was always happy to listen to stories of school and childhood adventures, and to give wise counsel on sibling rivalries. As i grew I knew that whenever Ilse was around there would be laughter! As an adult when I was stranded in New Jersey with car trouble, Aunt Ilse put me up overnight, fed me in the morning and sent me on my way with cuttings from her mint and raspberry plants. I know I live a blessed life because Ilse was in it. I will miss her light, her laugh, and her humor; but I hope to share her spirit with my family always.

During Covid I was able to re-connect with Aunt Ilse. I will never forget her unique tone when she spoke and she was always so happy to hear from me. Recently we spoke for a while and she delighted in sharing with me about the yummy food Bernhard and Christina had prepared. The joy she exuded over the phone was contagious! There is no doubt she was so proud of all of her children and grandchildren. May God strengthen all who will miss her. P.S. German chocolate cake during Christmas time can never escape my fond childhood memories♥️
