Obituary of Joyce Scott

Joyce Anderson Scott, age 96, of South Orange, died Thursday, September 19, 2024 at University Hospital in Newark, NJ.

Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave. South Orange, NJ on Thursday, September 26th from 5-8PM. The funeral will be on Friday, September 27th at 10am at Preston Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rosedale Cemetery, Montclair, NJ.

Joyce was born in Spring Hope, NC. She lived in South Orange for 53 years. Joyce was a teacher’s aide and performed administrative duties at Cleveland Street School in Orange, NJ for over 20 years during the 1970’s-1980’s. She enjoyed gardening, knitting, listening to music, and spending time with her family. She also took great pleasure in tracing her family roots through ancestry searches.

Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband, Herbert Scott. She is survived by her five children; Victor Scott, Gary Scott, Brenda Hawkins, Keith Scott and David Scott; her grandchildren, Daryl Hawkins, Shaun Hawkins, Evan Scott, Jason Scott, Courtney Scott and Sydni Scott; her great-grandson, Braylon Hawkins, sister Izonia "Zonie" Ball and a host of other relatives and friends.
