Obituary of Kevin J. O'Grady

Kevin J. O'Grady, 71, of Union, passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2024 at his home. Kevin has been a resident of Union for almost 60 years.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Avenue, Short Hills, NJ, on Friday, November 8th, at 11:15 AM.

Kevin worked as a Lineman for Verizon for 45 years, and also owned a landscaping company where he worked as the ‘Lawn Ranger’.  One of Kevin’s favorite jobs included coaching wrestling. His enthusiasm for the sport was contagious, and he’s fondly remembered as ‘Coach Kev’. He loved being a father to his three children, but his pride and joy was his role as Grandfather to his two grandchildren.

Wherever Kevin went, he seemed to know everyone, and everyone seemed to know him. He was always ready with a helping hand, joke or story to lighten the mood. He was the first to show up when you needed help, and the last to leave the party.

He is predeceased by his father Philip A. O’Grady, Sr., sister Patricia Morrison and brother Philip A. O’Grady, Jr.  He is survived by his children, Sean O’Grady, Kevin O’Grady, Jr., his daughter Claire Caruso and her husband, Joseph Caruso, Jr.  He also leaves behind his grandchildren Carmen and Joseph Caruso III; his mother Patricia O’Grady; his brother Dennis O’Grady and wife, Adele; his sister Colleen Cunningham and husband, Bernard; his sister Eileen Keating and husband, Robert; his brother-in-law Thomas Morrison; his sister-in-law Irma O’Grady; and many nieces and nephews (and their respective families): Thomas Morrison, Jr., Brian Morrison, Erin Christensen, Ryan O’Grady, Jaquelyn Keating, Catherine Keating, Marilyn Keating, Brigid Cunningham, Nora Cunningham, Deirdre Cunningham, Philip O’Grady III and Ana O’Grady.

Kevin will be missed dearly by his family and friends.
