Obituary of Raymond J. McGee

Raymond J. McGee, 85 of Lakewood formerly of Vailsburg passed away at home on Nov 26, 2017. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange on Fri, Dec 1st at 10:30 AM. Interment Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, E. Hanover. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home 153 South Orange Ave, South Orange on Thursday, 4:00PM - 7:00PM. For more information or to send condolences please visit prestonfuneralhome.net Born and raised in Newark, Mr. McGee worked for Newark Fire Dept for 39 years before retiring as Captain. He served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marie R. Senatore McGee in 2007. He is survived by his devoted daughters Kelly Cantisano (Thomas) and Jacqueline Brouder (Daniel), loving grandchildren Thomas and James Cantisano, Lily, Daniel, Raymond, Brendan and Owen Brouder. He loved his family, friends, the fire department, and his church community. He never met a stranger he wasn’t willing to help, and he connected to people in a way that made them feel special. Everyone was better for knowing him, and we were truly blessed to have him in our lives. He will be deeply missed.
