She was born in Newark on January 22, 1960, and raised in Short Hills, NJ. Helen attended Seton Hall University, where she studied child psychology, a testament to her lifelong dedication to understanding and helping people.
She first brought her beautiful smile and spirit to The Millburn Deli, and Oscar’s Deli of Millburn, until later venturing out as the owner of M&H Deli in Union. She would then spend the last 15 years working at Jersey Farms in Brick, NJ delivering that same smile and spirit.
Those close to Helen knew of her unwavering passion for baseball, and she rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her beloved New York Mets. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and cherished her time spent with family and friends in Millburn, as well as her visits to Sanibel Island with her daughter Jenni.
Helen's sense of humor was as legendary as her friendly demeanor, and she had a remarkable ability to light up any room. Her generosity was limitless, and she was always the first to extend a helping hand to those in need. Helen's laughter and spirit of giving will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all.
Helen was a loving mother to her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and James Fenimore. She was an adoring grandmother to her granddaughter, Michaela. She eagerly anticipated the arrival of another granddaughter, who will carry on her legacy of kindness and generosity. Helen's love and guidance shaped the lives of her siblings and their spouses, Patricia Plaia (Paul), Robert Brown (Donna), Jacqueline Brown (Stewart), Richard Brown (Jaclyn), and her stepsons Christopher and Timothy Davis (Nina).
She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Robert J. Brown and Phyllis Brown, as well as her husband Alton Davis and niece Gianna Brown. She would later be predeceased by her fiancé Matthew Williams. Helen's memory will also be cherished by her eleven beloved nieces and nephews, her five grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, extended family, and the countless friends she considered family.
Helen's life was a testament to the power of joy and the impact of a generous heart. She was a beacon of friendship and laughter, a true friend, a beloved family member, and a cornerstone of her community. Her memory will be cherished, and her spirit will live on.
