William Reed Chisholm, 92 of Short Hills died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Dec 17, 2017 which was the same day his father passed away in 1972. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., and Short Hills on Thursday, Dec 21st at 9:30 AM. Interment St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Visitation will be held at St. Rose of Lima Church on Wednesday, 4:00 - 8:00 PM. For more information or to send condolences please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com Born in Gloucester, MA., Bill lived in Short Hills for over 50 years. He attended The Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, then World War II broke out and he served his country during the war. After the War he attended Purdue University and then ultimately received his degree from the Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, a B.S. in Engineering. Bill was an insurance executive with Willis Corroon Group in New York City for many years. He was predeceased by his brother James Chisholm. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years Patricia Williams Chisholm, his sister Mary Johnson, his children Ruth Ann Fleming and her husband Greg, Elizabeth (Beth) MacDonald and her husband John, William Reed Chisholm II and his wife Ronnie, Daniel (Danny) Chisholm and his wife Barbara and Patrick James Chisholm and his wife Jill, his grandchildren Genevieve Walters and her husband Richard, Christopher Fleming and his fiancé Christina, Rebecca Fleming, Abigail Emerson and her husband Jonathan, Hannah and Jack MacDonald, Hillary, Molly, Maddie, Ana, Emily, Will, P.J., Jack and Addison Chisholm, great grandchildren Adeline Emerson and Annabelle Walters, and extended Family Natasha and Latasha Hood. Bill and his wife Pat were foster parents for 34 years, caring for over 200 children. In lieu of flowers donations to The Millburn Rescue Squad, 188 Glen Ave, Millburn, NJ 07041 would be appreciated.
