Obituary of Barbara A. Barbaro

Barbara A. Barbaro (nee Sundberg), 79, of Maplewood, N.J., passed away on Jan. 10, 2018, at St. Barnabas Hospital. The family will be receiving friends at St. Stephen's Cemetery, The Chapels at Short Hills, 451 Millburn Ave., Millburn, N.J., on Saturday, Jan. 13, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. followed by a service at 11 a.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Barbara lived in Maplewood for the past 52 years. She received her undergraduate degree in history and master's in history education at Brooklyn College; she also received her second master's degree in special education. Barbara worked for South Orange-Maplewood Board of Education since 1975, retiring as a learning consultant. She remained active in community service serving as past president of Family Services, West Orange, N.J., past board member at the Adult School in South Orange/ Maplewood, and was the recipient of the Maple Leaf Award, among her many accomplishments. She is survived by her devoted children, Elizabeth and Susanne Barbaro; brother, Donald Sundberg, and grandson, Andrew Trezza. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Barnabas Medical Center of Livingston, NJ.
