Obituary of Catherine Zappi Calisanti

Catherine P. Calisanti, 93, of Inverness, Fla., formerly of South Orange, N.J., died on Feb. 7, 2018. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady Of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Saturday, Feb. 17, at 10:30 a.m. Interment is at Gate Of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, N.J. Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Friday, Feb. 16, from 4 to 8 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit prestonfuneralhome.net Catherine was born and raised on Church St. in South Orange to William and Anna Zappi. She married her sweetheart, Michael Calisanti, in 1947 and raised her family in Orange, N.J. She worked for many years at Hammond Maps in Maplewood, N.J., before moving to Miramar, Fla., in 1976. There she worked for McDonalds Corp. for over 20 years. She retired and moved back to South Orange, where she lived for over 15 years to be near her brothers and close family and friends. Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Michael, and her brothers, Patrick and Dominick Zappi. She is survived by her daughters, Lillian Fiedler and Kathleen Moreira, both in Florida; her sister, Felicia Lambert in Hawaii; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
