Obituary of Carmela Mercadante

Carmela Mercadante, 90 of Brick for the past five years, formerly of South Orange and Toms river has passed away on Tuesday, August 21, 2018. A Visitation will be held at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Avenue, South Orange on Monday, August 27th from 9:30Am-12:30PM followed by a Funeral Service at 12:30PM. The burial will be private. Carmela worked as a cashier in the 1970's at Beck’s Hardware. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph C. Mercadante, her two sons, Richard and Donald Mercadante, her sisters Frances Powell and Anna Sutula. She is survived by her children, Marian (George) Koste, Joseph (Celie) Mercadante Jr., Patricia (William) Gethard, Donna (John) Jenkins, Cathy (Fred) Fatzler, Robert, Laura, Johnny (Jill) and Mark Mercadante. She is also survived by her siblings Jenny Magliaro, Rose Marie Kelly,Patsy Torsiello, Geraldine Cutrone, Anthony Torsiello and Angela McMahon, her 12 loving grand-children and her beloved great grand-children. Carmela’s family would like to express their great appreciation to their mom’s caregivers, Pat and June and all of her extended family at Shorrock Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 would be appreciated.
