Scott R. McCluskey, 41, of Morris Plains, formerly of Maplewood, died suddenly on Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, at home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Saturday, Feb. 24, at 9 a.m. Interment is in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visitation will be held at the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Millburn Ave., Maplewood, on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. For more information or to send condolences, please visit jacobhollefuneralhome.com. Born in Orange, Mr. McCluskey lived in Maplewood before moving to Morris Plains nine years ago. He was the dean of students at the Shepard School in Morristown since 2002. Mr. McCluskey was a former assistant football and baseball coach at Columbia High School in Maplewood, and a history teacher at South Orange Middle School and Columbia High School. He earned a B.A. in education from Towson State University in 1988, where he was captain of the football team, three-year Lambert Cup winners from 1985 to 1987. Mr. McCluskey graduated from Columbia High School in 1983, playing football, basketball and baseball. He was one semester away from a masters degree in supervision administration at Caldwell College. Mr. McCluskey was active in Maplewood Mens Softball League and a T-Ball coach in Morris Township. He was the beloved husband of Kara Lakeland McCluskey; the devoted father of Kelsey, Colleen and James McCluskey; loving son of Judy Barth McCluskey and the late Maurus McCluskey, and the dear brother of Susan Morrison and Cindy Mazzatta. In lieu of flowers, donations to the McCluskey Educational Trust Scholarship, c/o Mazzatta Family, 31 Red Schoolhouse Rd., Lebanon, N.J. 08833 would be appreciated.
