Mr Idiong was my grand dad and we had a lot of fun times together while he was alive. I remember how happy and expectant i usually am when i'm informed of his visit to Nigeria. I was always rest assured that i will be endowed with a lot of "goodies".
Grand dad was a very kind and jovial person who carried joy and happiness all over his personality. He had a good sense of humour and always radiated it wherever and whenever.
I can still vividly remember all the time we spent at night discussing, and he always ended with a gentle, infectious smile on his face and the words; "please study hard"
The news of granny's death hit me and indeed my entire family (especially my mum) like a sunami and left all of us broken down and downcasted for loss of words.
I will never forget u granny, you will always have a place deep in the crevices of my heart. You have really left a great vacuum which only God's grace can fill.
I sincerely pray that God will grant grand ma and my uncles, aunts and indeed all of us that u left behind the fortitude to bear this collosal, irreparable, irreplaceable loss.
May your soul rest in perfect peace and quiescence in the bossom of our Lord. Amen.
LOVE YOU!!!!

Dad,
I miss you dearly, it seems like you're on vacation, just like you travelled yesterday. The vacuum your absence creates in our home, family and MY life is unexlainable. I hope you have access to the internet wherever you are; and if you do, please read my heartfelt thoughts, NOT with a heavy heart, but with delight that, I know and trust you to always love me as I am.
I miss you every day, but i hope and pray that you find peace and you aren't lonely wherever you are.
with deep gratitude and respect to a SELFLESS man, my DAD.

Dad, I still wake up at night thinking about you... Some days I wish we can talk like we used to...
Your grand kids asked me the other day about you : I simply said someone you guys would love dearly if he were still here! I think they get it, but if not, they'll understand someday.. For I certainly understand what your absence has cost me!!

The true measure of a life is not measured in how many years we are upon this earth, but in what we leave behind. Although I never met you personally - in your daughter, Mfonobong, I can see you were a man of morals and values and you have instilled that in your daughter. Through her and through your other children your memory and legacy will live on. Rest in Peace and continue your watch over your family from higher grounds. God bless!

Mr. Ukpong Idiong was a very nice man to me and my family since I met him in the '90. I worked with him when he was the President of Akwa Ibom State Association and I was the secretary. My family and I will miss him very much. He was a father to me, during my wedding in 2002,I approached him to represent me as my father, he did not hesitate for a second. He represented me to the point that I was very proud of him. After the wedding, people thought he was my real Dad.
I sincerely believe that he is in the arms of God in heaven. God will give the family the strength to bear this loss.
May his soul rest in peace.

Dear Dad and Friend,
I will surely miss you as you go. Words alone may not express my respect to you. When I met you on a sunny summer day at downtown Newark I noticed the fatherhood in you. You did a lot in our lives with your great smiles among us. It was always your kind gestures that attracted people to you. I thank God I met you in my life. I miss you calling me eyen awuwan. I recalled when you sat me and addressed me back in the days. It was a fatherly advice you rendered. I will miss you a lot, and also my dancing partner, I know God is watching over you. We will miss you a lot expecially your proverbs in those monthly meetings. May God Almighty watches over the family you left behind. Amen. May your soul rest in peace.

Brother Ukpong Idiong was a joy to have in our congregation because his love for our lord Jesus Christ radiated in all he said and did. Because of this, all of us were edified by his honesty, his sincere love and his willingness to work hard to help others. When Ukpong prayed, you could feel his prayers reaching up to heaven, and feel God answering his requests to bless all of us. When he shared his testimony, his deep sense of discipleship shined through and brightened our lives and strengthened our faith. He lived up to his word and was 100% dependable. I don’t know anyone who loved his family more. I am a better man for having known Ukpong and hope I can live well enough to see his warm smile again.

Brother Idiong was a dear and trusted friend and advisor to me and the other members of the Elders Quorum presidency. His service as secretary will be something that I will remember always - we joked about his being our "eternal secretary" I wonder if Heavenly Father needed a secretary in the afterlife...
My heart is filled with both joy and sorrow. Joy for Ukpong, as he has been promoted to glory and is where we all strive to be, back with our Heavenly Father and his loved ones that passed before. The sorrow is for myself and his family - myself, as I have lost a dear friend, and for his family as they have lost their husband, father, priesthood holder and care giver. I would pray that the family would be blessed by Heavenly Father with a special outpouring of the spirit, that will provide them comfort in this time.
With love and fond memories.

Chief Idiong,
Otobong and I almost missed knowing you. However, our little association with you especially the night we went to Nto Adang Fund Raising in New York this year is what we will cheerish forever in fun memory of a loving, lively and entertaining personality whom you are made off. Your departure is a shock to us especially as we re-locate to Newark to be your neighbor. It is obvious that all our plans to visit each others family and to have fun together are shattered at the altar of death. But Chief be rest assured that you will be fundly missed. Adois!!!

Ukpong Idiong for a couple of years was indeed a friend and a roommate. During the time I knew him, he was very studious, hardworking, and demonstrated an oustanding love for his family far away in Nigeria then.He loved his wife so much that he showed me her pictures uncountable times. When it relates to the children, their names never left his toungue as he talked about them regularly.one incident has not escaped my memory uptil now. That is, I received a Fingerhut sales magazine with various items advertised. As soon as Idiong took possesion of the magazine, his love for the his kids got the best of him. Quickly, he ordered assorted colors of kids binoculars and was ready to dispatch them to Nigeria for the children. To me, that was remarkable and that impression alone says more about this man who has just left us. I have much to say but my hope is that the children will reflect his traits and characters he imparted in them while with us. may his soul rest in peace. Amen

It was a very special three hours spent with you and yours. I wish we had the chance to spend even more time.
However, it is Gods will that those three hours represented a life time of knowledge, warmth, joy and hope that left me richly blessed.
To the loved ones you left, I made you a certain promise, that is a promise I intend to keep.
