Patsy T. Zazzaro, 86, of Flanders, formerly of Maplewood and Orange, died on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2008, at the Morris View Nursing Home, Morris Plains. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Preston Funeral Home, 153 South Orange Ave., South Orange, on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 12 noon. Interment will be in Hollywood Memorial Park, Union. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service. Born in Orange, Mr. Zazzaro lived in Maplewood and Orange before moving to Flanders. Before retiring in 1986, he was a teacher at the Lincoln Technical School in Union. He was also a service manager for Rankin Fuel in Cranford. An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Zazzaro served from January 1945 to April 1946 in the European Theater as a 1st Lieutenant. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was awarded two Purple Hearts and two Bronze Stars.
He was the beloved husband of the late Betty Jean Gibson Zaccaro; devoted father of Larry, Terrance, Robert, Patrick and the late Jerry Zazzaro. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
