DOROTHY E. ZUCKER (formerly Bell) - of South Orange, NJ, formerly of Greenwich, CT, died peacefully on Friday, April 18, 2008. She was 88 years old. She was born and raised in Rye and Mamaroneck and graduated from Cortland State College. She taught elementary school in Harrison, NY in the early 40's. Immediately after World War II she worked for the American government in Europe, living and working in Brussels, Paris and Frankfurt Germany where she met and married then Captain Lester J. Zucker. As an army wife, she lived traveling throughout the world, met presidents and popes, and lived in Hawaii, Boston, New York, Texas, Massachusetts, Virginia, Georgia, California and Verona Italy where she served as President of the Verona Officers wives Club. She was also a trained volunteer for the American Red Cross. Upon her husband's military retirement she settled in Greenwich, Connecticut and taught 4th grade at the Park Avenue School in Port Chester, New York. She was an active member of the Greenwich Women's Club and served on its board for several years. She enjoyed the piano, was a gourmet cook, an enthusiastic golfer and a tournament caliber duplicate bridge player. She is survived by her daughter, Sarah Macyshyn of South Orange, NJ, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Macyshyn also of South Orange, a sister, Estelle Brunner of Troy, NY and a brother, Walter H. Bell of Palm City, Florida. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral from The Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, 2122 Milburn Ave. Maplewood, on Tues. April 22nd at 10:00 AM thence to St. Rose of Lima Church, Short Hills where a Funeral Mass will be offered at 11:15 AM. Interment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA. Please omit flowers.
