Robert D. Fenton, 78, of Short Hills died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at his daughter's home in Short Hills. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 217 Prospect St., South Orange, on Thursday, Oct. 2, at 10:30 a.m. Interment is in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Madison. Visitation will be held at the Jacob A. Born in Jersey City, Mr. Fenton lived in South Orange for 44 years before moving to Short Hills two years ago. He worked for AT&T in Newark from 1961-1991, retiring as a manager. Mr. Fenton received a B.A. degree in business from St. Peter's College in Jersey City. He was a former member of the South Orange Elks, and a member of the American Legion in Harrison, the AT&T Pioneers Club and the Five O'Clock Club at Cryans and Meads.
Mr. Fenton was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Sheahan Fenton; devoted father of Robert D. Fenton Jr., Suzanne Whitley, Maggie Miggins, Dorothy Fenton, Elizabeth Fletcher and Claire Fenton. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
