Obituary of Winifred M. Garrigan

Winifred Bruen Garrigan, 88, of Port Monmouth died on Thursday, March 19, 2009, at home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church, 50 Short Hills Ave., Short Hills, on Tuesday, March 24, at 10 a.m. Interment is at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover. Visitation will be held at the Jacob A. Born in Newark, Mrs. Garrigan lived in Chatham for six years and Short Hills for most of her life before moving to Port Monmouth six months ago. She was an administrator for M.B. Garrigan Co., her family business, in Newark, for many years. Later, Mrs. Garrigan was a receptionist at Millburn Town Hall for several years. She was a member of the Junior Seton League, South Orange, the St. Rose of Lima Church Ladies Auxiliary, Short Hills, the Lifelighters of Millburn, and a volunteer at the Millburn Recreation Commission. Mrs. Garrigan was also an avid golfer. She was the beloved wife of the late Matthias B. Garrigan; devoted mother of Matthias B. Garrigan III, Eileen Garrigan Bender, Colleen Anne Lane, and the late Maureen Winifred Garrigan, and loving grandmother of Jason, Ryan, Julia and Emily Lane.
